Making the Case for Overhead Door
Tri-annually Overhead Door Corporation invites its top Distributors in the US to be recognized, network, hear about the company’s strategic direction, make purchases, as well as receive product and business management education. Since ODC has one of the most unique organizational structures, audience engagement and participation is of utmost importance.

AT-A-GLANCE
  • 600 attendees (Distributors and spouses)
  • Three Day Event
  • El Conquistador Hotel, San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Evening with JoDee Messina in the Rain Forest
  • Vendor Tradeshow
  • 9 Educational Sessions
  • General Session
  • Awards Presentations
On the eve of its 90th Anniversary, Overhead Door needed to deliver some tough messages about acquisition and reorganization in a manner that its Distributors could embrace, and also create a celebratory atmosphere that was not at odds with the messages.

They turned to Actio and our partners to handle all aspects of the event, from logistics, to pre-event marketing, theming, executive presentation development and coaching, staging, set and scenic, keynote speaker and entertainment, registration, off-site event, transportaion, food and beverage, staging, video production, on site materials, and post-event ROI analysis.

Executive Content is Key to Success
Overhead Door had some tough messages to deliver, and Actio helped build the presentations from an audience-centric perspective, along with intensive presentation coaching. The result delivered a standing ovation and record product sales.
Today, Tomorrow, Together:
A Message of Shared Vision
The event theme was designed to serve as a platform for a message of collaboration between the Distributors and the company to collectively grow their future success, as well as reinforce the legacy of Overhead Door’s 90 years in business.
Entertainment
Classic rock and country music are both a perfect fit for this audience whose demographics range all the way from early 30s to late 60s. JoDee Messina was a perfect fit – for the audience and the budget. She was extremely accommodating, including cheerfully participating in last-minute scheduling changes and the unusual setting of a rainforest for her concert. An added bonus was her charitable foundation “A Million Doors” – a perfect fit for a door company!
Pre-event Marketing Builds Engagement
Actio produced a series of newsy emails as well as video invitation from the excutives, featuring the location, new product, ways to earn points toward expenses and lodging, as well as educational topics, and Keynote presentation. As the discount pricing deadline approached, emails with a timeliness message drove attendance up 30% in three days.

The Results were not only standing ovations for the executives, but also the strong vote of confidence represented by record product sales.
